John Steinbeck + The Jack Rose

 There’s so very, very much to love about Steinbeck.  The mere addition of his affinity for all things simple and good (like whiskey + variants of) is not just another reason to adore his wit, but a completely whole reason unto itself.

Enjoy this literary wonder and his surprising drink of choice.

The Jack Rose

1½ oz Applejack
Juice of half a Lime
½ oz Grenadine

Shake fast and furiously with much cracked ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

And then read this letter from Steinbeck to his son:
