Wisdom & a Cocktail: Sister Disco Reigns

We’re super excited to have Lauren and Farrell from Sister Disco bringing you a very special W&C today!

This Cocktail Comes With A Story

Over 50 years ago our grandparents built a beach house in Huron, Ohio where our family spends a lot of time in the summer months (take a look inside).  The area has some great local farms and peach season is a particularly delicious time of year there.  A favorite seasonal cocktail of ours is our mother’s signature drink, Peach À Ddeani’s, which she has concocted many an evening after a long day on the beach.  As the drink bears her name, Ddeani (short for Nadine and pronounced dean-nee;  the double d is thanks to the name’s creation by her then 8 year old brother), we thought it only appropriate that the wisdom accompanying the drink come from our mom as well.  Cheers.

Wisdom from Our Mother:

Live through your heart, not through your head.

“One might think this is easy, but it is really tricky – tricky trick as my mother would say.  It may just be the trickiest trick of all.  Living through the guidance of my heart means disregarding the things the mind throws in front of me, things that often seem so reasonable but feel off.  That is the key, I think, to knowing when you are in your head and not in your heart.  It is how you feel.”

Peach À Ddeani’s

2 or 3 ripe Ohio peaches

Other local fresh fruit such as cherries, strawberries or blueberries

½ can frozen lemonade

Same amount gin, light rum or vodka

Splash of 7-Up

Ice cubes

Blend all ingredients together in a blender and serve in your favorite glassware

Big thanks to the lovely duo at for a fabulous Friday post!

  2. The Peach A’ Ddeani is a terrific drink only outshone by Lauren and Farrell who are my awesome nieces! And Ddeani is the best in the friend/sister-in-law department! I hit the jackpot!
